What high risk work licences can I train for at Training Combined?
Dogging (DG), crane operations (including non-slewing and slewing classes), rigging classes (RB onwards, after DG), and forklift (LF). We also run Verification of Competency (VOC) for workers who already hold a licence and need current-skills evidence for a site or employer.
How long does a dogging course take and what does it involve?
Typically four to five days against the nationally recognised unit CPCCLDG3001 (Licence to perform dogging). It covers load weight and centre-of-gravity assessment, selecting and inspecting slings, chains and shackles, sling angles and working load limits, and directing crane movements by hand, whistle and two-way radio — with practical exercises every day, not just theory. Do I get hands-on practice before the final assessment?
Yes. Practical skills are drilled with experienced trainers before the formal assessment day. You practise slinging real loads, gear inspection and crane directing until you're consistent, then complete the assessment with a licensed assessor. Nobody is pushed into assessment before they're ready.
Do I need experience or other tickets before starting a dogging course?
No prior experience or licence is required for dogging — it's the classic entry ticket into crane and lifting work. You'll need to be at least 18 and hold a USI (Unique Student Identifier). What happens after I pass — how do I get the actual licence?
After passing assessment you receive a Notice of Satisfactory Assessment and apply to SafeWork NSW (via Service NSW) for your photo high risk work licence — valid for five years and recognised Australia-wide.
